In 1897, John Brown, formerly the owner of the Waddington Hotel (Victoria Plains) was the owner of the Moora Hotel, which at that time was a galvanised iron shanty. It burnt down in 1906 and the existing building was constructed in 1907. Robert James was the licensee of the then Moora Hotel.
