MOORA HAY BALES 2026

About

The Moora Hay Bales Festival is a unique rural event that puts local aspiring musicians, an orchestra and a headline act on a stage in an arena built of Hay Bales.

What is the Moora Hay Bales Festival?
It’s a big outdoor music concert held inside an arena made from hay bales. Picture a country-style mini amphitheatre built from stacked bales, with a full stage in the centre.

On the night, you’ll hear:
Local Wheatbelt musicians supported by live orchestra
A major headline act to finish the night – guys it’s JESSICA MAUBOY!!!

Think of it as a relaxed, family-friendly festival where you bring your chairs or blankets, enjoy great music, soak up the country atmosphere, and experience something you won’t find anywhere else.

MOORA HAY BALES 2026

The Moora Music Project is a year-long community music initiative designed to bring people together, build skills, and celebrate the incredible talent within our region. In partnership with Australian Baroque and Mirabilis, the project offers local residents – from school-aged children to seniors – the opportunity to learn, rehearse and perform alongside professional musicians, culminating in a major community showcase at the Hay Bales Festival.

More than 31 local musicians, four school choirs, the Badgingarra Women’s Choir, family bands, and instrumental ensembles are taking part, developing musical ability, confidence, teamwork and performance experience. The project strengthens community connections across Moora, Miling, St Joseph’s and Badgingarra, providing high-quality arts access in a regional setting and fostering pride in our local creativity. As part of Seniors Week, visiting specialists Helen (Australian Baroque) and Mary-Anne (Massed Choir) delivered community concerts, school visits and mentoring sessions, offering participants valuable artistic guidance and helping build momentum as the project progresses.

The Moora Music Project will culminate in a 70-minute community performance on stage at Hay Bales 2026, where participants will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to open for Australian superstar Jessica Mauboy, this year’s festival headliner. This experience showcases the power of community collaboration and celebrates music as a source of connection, wellbeing and regional vibrancy.

To support learning and participation, a full series of workshops, rehearsals and development sessions is available for all registered musicians and choir members.
